What is ASL Club?

Speaking the language that isn't spoken.

ASL Club was started at Niles West by a deaf student with the purpose of both teaching students American sign language and immersing them in a new culture. We are an advocating voice for the deaf and hard of hearing, but still a place to learn and have fun.

We raise funds to donate to the Starkey Hearing Foundation, an organization that gets hearing aids for individuals that cannot afford them. We perform the Star Spangled Banner in ASL at major assemblies during the school year. ASL Club is also a great way to get your volunteer hours in, as we will be going on several trips related to helping out in the deaf community.

If you're interested in learning more about the culture or intrigued by the challenge of learning a new language, come join us on Zoom at 2:30pm on Mondays! CLICK HERE for the Zoom Meeting.
