What is ASL?
American Sign Langage - a language like any other.
ASL is the language preferred by the deaf and hard of hearing communities in America. It was inspired by the French form of sign language, developed by Abbe Charles Michel de L'Epee, and adapted for Americans by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet. Today, there are approximately two million people who can communicate using ASL.
